Test on it

On test day you ride the exact scooter you practiced on. Familiar controls, familiar feel, nothing new to figure out.

Straight answers

The rules come from the California DMV. When in doubt, check dmv.ca.gov.

Can a scooter be used for the M1 skills test?

The test is taken on a two-wheeled motorcycle, and a seated scooter like the PCX counts as one. The DMV's stand-up "motorized scooter" category is different and can't be used. Bikes without a clutch and gears skip the gear-shift ride.

What does the test include?

A pre-trip inspection of the controls, then a cone serpentine, circle rides and a slow ride inside marked lines. First-time license holders going motorcycle-only may also get an observation road test.

Under 21?

California requires the CMSP training course for riders under 21, and completing it waives the DMV skills test. Push Love Rides is built for riders 21+. See motorcyclesafetyca.com.

Do you guarantee a pass?

No. Nobody honestly can. We'll put in the practice so you show up confident.

What about DMV paperwork?

You'll do the application, fee, vision exam and knowledge tests, and book the motorcycle driving test by appointment. Proof of insurance is required for the test: [GUS: insurance details]

Helmet? Location?

CA law requires a DOT-compliant helmet: [GUS: provided or BYO]. We meet in Oceanside: [MEETING LOCATION].
